tanktests was originally started by ‘Muzzy’ a renowned fishkeeping hobbyist who is well known throughout the online forums for his expert knowledge and experience.

A year on tanktests remains as an independent, privately owned UK business and run by fellow reef keeping enthusiasts with over 20 years of fish keeping experience.

Founded on the basis of testing water parameters, it was soon established that fellow marine enthusiasts wanted good quality reef balling salts, additives, supplements and water treatments at cost effective pricing. We pride ourselves on our product knowledge to provide you with the highest quality products at the most competitive prices in the market.

Customer care and quality are at the forefront of our business and it will continue to remain our goal to maintain those high and exacting standards. We will not lose sight of our roots and tanktests will never be a faceless company and we are happy to talk directly with our customers, either by phone, on forums or by email.

What does the future hold?... we aim to stock quality products that our customers need, at a price that is affordable. Of course we are a business that needs to develop and grow but we don’t believe this should be at your expense; profit margins are not going to replace quality or customer care.

“Well, I'm known as Muzzy on various reefkeeping forums.

I have been a fish keeping hobbyist for as long as I can remember, starting off with tropical fish as most do, then moving onto marines and reefs.

My latest tank has won various online awards and been featured in Practical Fishkeeping Magazine in the December 2006 issue.

I am currently an official Marine Equipment Product Tester for Practical Fishkeeping Magazine (PFK) It came to my attention that many hobbyists use a vast array of test kits, many of these test kits are actually very un-reliable, don't just take my word for it, have a look at PFK's own test kit studies. It makes very poor reading, worrying in fact.

I have narrowed down specific test kits that are very reliable, many quite expensive. If you were to purchase all the different test kits needed that work effectively then you would be looking to spend around £200. Fish keeping can be an expensive enough hobby as it is, without having to keep buying new test kits.

Many of our customers simply want a second opinion on their test results, sometimes because they are having problems, sometimes just for peace of mind.

All you have to do is fill the bottle with tank water, put it in the bag and put it in a post box - that's it! - simple and reliable results!

The results you receive from us are very reliable, most results have an error range of better than +/- 5%, this is more than acceptable for what is being tested.”
