About Us

OK, so who are we and what do we do?

Well, my name is Steve Musgrove, AKA Muzzy on various reefkeeping forums.

I have been a fish keeping hobbyist for as long as I can remember, starting off with tropical fish as most do, then moving onto marines and reefs.

My latest tank has won various awards and been featured in Practical Fishkeeping Magazine in the December 2006 issue.

It came to my attention that many hobbyists use a vast array of test kits, many of these test kits are actually very un-reliable, don't just take my word for it, have a look at PFK's own test kit studies. It makes very poor reading, worrying in fact. Here's their Nitrate test kit study as an example.

I have narrowed down specific test kits that are actually very reliable, many quite expensive. If you were to purchase all the different test kits needed THAT WORK then you would be looking to spend around £200. Fish keeping can be an expensive enough hobby as it is, without having to keep buying new test kits.

Many of my customers simply want a second opinion on their test results, sometimes because they are having problems, sometimes just for peace of mind.

So, TankTests.co.uk was born, After receiving payment of £7.50 through PayPal, we will post you out a small plastic bottle, along with a pre-paid and pre-addressed mail bag. All you have to do is fill out the form, fill the bottle with tank water, put them in the bag and put it in a post box - that's it! - simple, cheap and more importantly RELIABLE RESULTS!

And no, we are not a scientific lab! If you wanted a lab to test your water you would expect to pay over £100 a go. The results you receive from me are very reliable, most results have an error range of better than +/- 5%, this is more than acceptable for what we are testing.
